A wonderful letter from one of our liaisons at SSB.
Dear Eye-Link Minnesota,
I am a Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialist with State Services for the Blind. In my position with Senior Services, I regularly meet older adults whose low vision significantly affects their daily lives. I love my role because I get to connect with and help Minnesota seniors to maintain their independence.
While the State of Minnesota does an excellent job of providing resources for people experiencing blindness or low vision, there are budget constraints. SSB is not always able to provide more expensive items such as OCR devices. I truly appreciate Eye-Link Minnesota and its mission to help provide assistive technology tools, which would otherwise be hard for our customers to obtain.
Most recently, I am very thankful to Eye-Link Minnesota for generously providing a LyriQ Assistive Reader to help my customer, Janet, who is adjusting to being legally blind. She has both macular degeneration and glaucoma. These eye conditions have increasingly had an impact on her ability to read everyday items, like mail and recipes. The LyriQ provided will allow her to continue to participate in activities that are very important to her, like making a cherished recipe for her family. We truly appreciate this gift.
Warmest Regards,
Melanie Dailey Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialist Direct: 651.802.2998 Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development State Services for the Blind
